*1.projectlocker.com Is Moving November 5 - Here's What You Need to Know

Published 02 November 2016 by C. G. Brown

Q: What’s happening?

A: We are relocating ProjectLocker to a new group of servers over the next couple of months. We’re expecting the move to fix issues we’ve been having with our current physical environment, increase performance significantly for all customers and give us more flexibility as well to offer a broader range of services.

Q: What are you doing to my server?

A: This week, we're moving PL1, so if your server name contains the number 1 in the URL you use to access it, you’ll be relocated the morning of Saturday, November 5. We’ll be scheduling a maintenance window from November 5 at 12 PM GMT to 6 PM GMT (8 AM EDT to 2 PM EDT).

We anticipate that your account will not be offline during the entirety of this window. However, you should plan on at least a few hours of unavailability during this maintenance window.

Q: What do I have to do?

A: Hopefully, nothing. Your URLs will not change and you’ll access ProjectLocker the way you always have. The IP addresses and host keys will change, so if you connect to any services via SSH, you may notice a complaint about your host key. We’ll be publishing the new SSL certificate fingerprint at

http://help.projectlocker.com/knowledge_base/topics/what-are-the-host-fingerprints-for-your-servers

so you can verify it’s the right server.

Q: How do I know my data is safe?

A: We’ll be taking an offsite backup before making any permanent actions. We will also keep the original server online (but with services turned off) for about 2 weeks to ensure that the new location is functioning fully as expected and allow us to revert if something catastrophic happens.

Q: Where do I go with questions?

A: You can always contact us at support [-at-] projectlocker.com with any questions. We’ll also be posting at here and providing updates on Twitter at @ProjectLockerHQ.
