Downloadable Backups are Here!

Posted by C. G. Brown Wed, 27 Feb 2008 18:57:00 GMT

While we take every precaution to make sure customer data is backed up and protected, our ProjectLocker Lite customers have been clamoring for the ability to download Subversion backups and Trac backups, similar to the Archival service for ProjectLocker Enterprise.  The ability to take on-demand backups is now here.  For just $2.50 per project per backup, you can create a backup accessible in ProjectLocker Portal and downloadable for 30 days.  You can access this via the Backups section in ProjectLocker Portal, visible to all account administrators.

We are open to suggestions for features and improvements to this service.  We're trying to provide as many services and features as we can while keeping the prices low, but we'd love to hear your thoughts.

This is great! Just what we needed for our backup/archive strategy. One option we would love to see is the ability to purchase a regular backup system, ie setup a weekly archive of trac and/or SVN per project. I have a couple of projects I will need both trac and SVN and a couple I will only need trac. I would be willing to set this up for autopay each month and charging $2.50/project and Trac/SVN is very reasonable. If this were possible I would setup probably a weekly recurring charge for this that you could then add to my monthy automated charge. Great service, features and system, thanks! Jay

your web page, "https://www.projectlocker.com/scenario/startup" does not mention that the downloadable backups requires $2.5. The page just says that everything is included for $5 for the Angel service. One of the reason I selected ProjectLocker was that it includes downloadable backups but this blog says that it needs $2.5 for creating one backup. Either https://www.projectlocker.com/scenario/startup is wrong or this blog is wrong. Which one is correct information? If I need to pay $2.5, I think one free backup should be provided before paying $2.5 because I don't even know whether your backup would work quite well with my subversion and want to make sure whether backup works with my subversion before paying money.

Eric, that's a fair point. The startup page does imply that they're included when they are an extra charge, and we'll fix that shortly. The downloadable backup format is a compressed Subversion dump file that is compatible with any Subversion server. Try the format and if you don't like it, we'll refund your money.
